Abstract
Flexible bandwidth modification in packet switched networks is very important in the support of a BoD service. Virtual concatenation (VCAT) and link capacity adjustment scheme (LCAS) technology is widely used in time division multiplexing (TDM) networks to provide the dynamic bandwidth modification for circuit connection. This paper discusses how to deploy the VCAT/LCAS technology with the help of general multiprotocol label switching (GMPLS) signalling to provide the dynamic bandwidth modification in the packet switched networks for a BoD service. Especially the GMPLS CALL which is initiated from a customer edge (CE) node is introduced to trigger the negotiation process of the configuration parameters of both provider´s edge (PE) nodes, and provides the Ethernet service or other packet service.
