  • Abstract
    Presents the results of a theoretical work aiming to evaluate the potential of MIVIS (Multispectral Infrared and Visible Imaging Spectrometer) visible channels for marine parameter estimate, and to propose the relevant algorithms. The methodology used for algorithm retrieval is based on a model of ocean colour, briefly recalled, which was used to generate a large number of reflectance curves for different distributions of the input parameters (the concentrations of optically active components). The curves were then integrated over the visible channels of MIVIS radiometer. A final regression analysis between integrated reflectances and input parameters yielded the algorithms. Results are presented both for single-band algorithms, for ratios of different bands and for multilinear algorithms. The high values of the correlation coefficient, very close to the unity, put in evidence the effectiveness of MIVIS data for the retrieval of optically active marine parameters
