Abstract
Virtual reality technology has been adopted in the study of three dimensional virtual reality (3DVR) digital information platform for shearer. An improved progressive mesh simplification algorithm for 3D real-time level of detail rendering of shearer based on half-edge collapse was proposed and a 3DVR digital information platform for shearer was established in Virtools platform based on real-time filing of important working parametres of shearer. The “virtual” 3D model is driven to display the working state and changing trend immediately by using the real-time data provided by the remote control and monitoring system of shearer. Preliminary experiments in Xi´an Coal Mine Machinery Factory show that the 3DVR Digital Platform can be integrated with the remote control system for shearer and work well, which is useful in realizing the visual remote operation and control over shearer and improving safety and reliability of mine production.
