Abstract :
R-curves were measured using a surface crack in flexure for an unpoled, ferroelastic composition of PZT. Grain size, polishing away the residual stress zone created by the indentation, and thermal depoling did not have a significant effect on the R-curve behavior. A larger initial flaw size resulted in a lower R-curve plateau value
