Abstract :
Forest resource inventory is very important for forest resource management. Data collection is the key in the whole process of forest resource inventory. The traditional method manually records data on the paper based sheet, which is time consuming with less precision. With the recent development of digital forestry, the traditional method no longer meets the needs of forest industry. The purpose of the paper is to develop a field data collection system for forest resource inventory using Visual Basic programming language. Object Oriented Programming (OOP) technique is applied to the system. It uses VB to design a user friendly interface, which matches the actual work needs. The interface is linked to the Access for saving the data. Install this system on PDA, the paper arrives at the target of no paper of forestry resource survey with high precision, low cost and much efficiency.
