Abstract :
The purpose of this paper is to bring additional insight into the management of emerging technologies so that organizations can more effectively and efficiently convert their ideas to competitive advantage. A competitive advantage is created when an organization is able to create something other organizations cannot (Barney, 1991; Smith and Reinertsen, 1992). This can materialize in many different forms, including having the ability to research and develop a nascent technology and create the necessary procedures for utilizing that technology. The very nature of emerging technologies creates this potential for gaining sustainable competitive advantages
