Abstract :
In this paper we present an evaluation of the timer-controlled transmission procedures within the data link layer protocol of a fieldbus network of standard design, using timed colored Petri nets. The aim of this work is to assess the impact of the values of some key timers used in the protocol, combined with the priority mechanisms adopted in the protocol specification on the system and message cycle execution mechanisms
