Abstract :
The use of broadband signals in a multifrequency electric impedance tomography system for observation of long bone fracture healing and the characterisation of electrical bioimpedance is presented. Digital signal processing methods for signal generation, system control and data acquisition enable the investigation of broadband measurement methods for bioelectrical spectroscopy. The generation of multifrequency signals and the application of maximum length sequences in impedance measurement systems are proposed. Broadband methods may deliver additional information which promises to indicate nonunion of long bone fractures at an early stage
