Abstract
This paper evaluates the impact of mergers of electricity generation companies on wholesale electricity prices. A spatial gaming model, with the Cournot-Nash strategy, is used for the evaluation. The proposed merger evaluation method has certain advantages over the traditional HHI index for measuring potential market power of generators. Case studies are provided to illustrate the use of the model
