Abstract
This papers illustrates the identification of stoichiometric models of batch reactor processes as part of an overall tendency modeling technique aimed at fast and cost effective optimization of batch/semibatch processes when a detailed understanding of the process fundamentals is not available. Previous work required some a priori knowledge of the chemical behavior of the specific process under investigation to be available. In this work, the identification of it stoichiometric model for the catalyzed epoxidation of oleic acid is investigated assuming no information about the reaction mechanism is available. The analysis is compared to a study done on the same process that utilized a priori process knowledge.
