Abstract
Theoretical calculations of a dual-cone-shaped helical ribbon agitator were done, including the mixing power consumption, the mixing time and the circulation time, this device is an agitator for high-viscosity liquid materials in vacuum deaeration equipment. The flow field characteristics in stirring tank, pressure distribute, the relation between the impeller rotational speed and pressure distribute in tank, and the gap between the vessel wall and the impeller were simulated and analyzed. The impeller rotational speed had little effect on outlet pressure, the pressure is steadier at the low-speed (14–19rpm); the gap varied from 11mm to 15mm when the pressure remained stable. The result of the rotational speed and the gap value accorded with empirical value in production process; proposing smooth fluctuation characteristics of outlet pressure as a method of design criteria, and an enlarge calculation of agitator was carried out based on this criteria.
