Abstract
The research presented in this report reveals some of the prospectives of using nanometer metallic layers in photonic crystals. The simulation and experimental measurements have been performed in the millimeter and sub-millimeter wavelength ranges for one-dimensional structures comprised of quartz, teflon and bismuth. It is shown that thin metallic films can be used to smoothen the reflectivity spectrum and narrow the main reflectivity.
