Abstract :
Bit error rate performance and sensitivity penalty for AMI coded optical CPFSK in a delay demodulation receiver are obtained. It has been found that an optimum modulation index of 0.9 yields a theoretical system penalty of 2 dB at a bit error rate of 10-9 using a DFB laser with non-flat FM response and normalised laser linewidth ΔνT=4×10-4
