Abstract :
In this work, we report the construction of large-area multi-strip resistive plate chambers for the construction of an ion Time-of-Flight wall (iToF) for the R3B experiment in the future FAIR facility. The main goal of this detector is to provide high-accuracy time-of-flight measurements of the fragments produced in fission and spallation reactions at relativistic energies investigated in inverse kinematics. Large-area modules have been constructed following the requirements imposed by results obtained with small-size prototypes and simulations performed with GEANT4.
