  • Abstract
An approximate boundary condition is necessary to close the computational grid for a differential-equation-based solution (either in the frequency or time domain) of an electromagnetic scattering problem. While the asymptotic form for r to infinity is well-known, it is not sufficient for large problems. For efficiency, one needs to find higher-order boundary conditions that allow the computational grid to be terminated as close to the scatterer as possible. The author discusses the two-dimensional, frequency-domain case in detail. However, the results for three dimensions and/or the time domain are quite similar.<>
