Anesthesia mobile system: a pen-based system for pre-operative data handling

In this paper the authors describe the Anesthesia Mobile System (AMS): a pen-based computer system for remote pre-operative data collection. The AMS has been developed to be used by anesthetists and nurses at different hospital scenarios where pre-operative data are handled. Pen-based technology offers important advantages in terms of portability and human-computer interaction. The AMS supports: (1) A complete data record of the patient that can be consulted of modified, (2) The preparation of the anesthesia plan. The AMS can be integrated in a Hospital Information System (HIS), or can be used as a stand alone system. The work presented in this paper has been mainly developed under the Research Project “ISAR: Integrated System Architecture”, within the-Telematics in Health Care European Research Program
