Abstract
A cathlab system is described that is equipped with SIEMENS components. The biplane video signals are A/D converted by a DIGITRON 3 VACI. Recording and analyzing of physiological curves is done by a MICOR, isocentered camera positioning by a BICOR, and the X-ray generation by a POLYDOROS. The central collection and postprocessing of data is performed by a small local area VAXcluster consisting of a μVAX II and a VAXstation II GPX. The interconnection to that cluster is made by current loop serial lines for low rate devices (positioner, generator) and by Ethernet for the high rate devices and the rest of the world (image processors and archives). This integrated cathlab system solves the main problems of digital archiving in cardiology by reducing the image data to the medically relevant subset and by integration of the associated data into that image frame. This improves archiving of all relevant data and facilities computer based analysis of angiocardiographic studies
