Abstract :
The explosion of fiber technology over the past few years has resulted in significantly longer reach networks. This paper will review some of the challenges, in terms of dispersion compensation, OSNR (optical signal to noise ratio), and fiber nonlinearities involved with implementing these technologies over legacy fiber.
