Abstract :
The author describes the design and performance of the Viterbi decoder used in the ASCAMP (Advanced Single-Channel Anti-jam Man Portable) terminal. The subject is introduced by giving some background information on the terminal itself. This is followed by a discussion of the system constraints as seen from the decoder´s perspective. The desired decoder operation and the resultant hardware are discussed, and the author concludes with a description of the test setup and the measured error rates
