Abstract
Simulation results verify the effectiveness of the recursive suppression algorithm in resolving closely spaced signals and show that it achieves resolution approximately as rapidly as the computationally intensive MUSIC algorithm. The concept of resolution stability and the choice of the adaptation constant are explained. This algorithm has a parameter, γ, which can be adjusted to account for the degree of nonstationarity in the signal environment. When γ>1, the algorithm has the novel feature that the weights are only updated after γ iterations
