Abstract
Dynamics of an optical pulse in transversely inhomogeneous dielectric medium is viewed when the pulse is represented as the quasi-particle bunch. It is shown that the dynamics of the pulse is similar to the dynamics of an uncharged particle with intrinsic magnet momentum in the external magnetic field. Under the influence of transverse medium inhomogeneities the pulse splits to several pulses with the different amplitudes, polarizations and velocities. The disintegration of the pulse takes place due to the transverse medium inhomogeneous effect on the cross field components of the pulse.
