Abstract
In this paper, we consider the problem of transmitting real-time traffic over local area networks (LAN) using three technologies. The first technology is dynamic bandwidth allocation, a packet based forward error correction. The second and third technologies are solutions to the packet loss problem in which source coding and channel coding are designed jointly. Although the technologies discussed are applicable to all LANs, this paper focused on wireless LANs.
