Abstract
The development of new products is a classic example of the use of project management. From a risk management perspective, however, this type of project is unique: the risks are high and the very nature of the project is to reduce this risk. This paper examines project risk management in new product development, focusing on technical (rather than commercial) risk and identifying a number of relevant heuristics from the fields of product and systems development
