Abstract
This paper puts forward the concept of data genome to describe how data product came into existence and how the data has evolved over time in pervasive computing environments. In our theory, every data product has the only data genome that carries the origin and processing histories of data, and it evolves with the evolution of data. Data genome is important for understanding the strain of data with other data product, the quality and evolutionary process of data, etc. We present the concept of data genome firstly, then we introduce some operations such as transmit, introject and add-tail to simulate the evolution of data genome in brief. The transmit operation simulates the process of version update of data product. The introject operation simulates the process of importing data from other data product, and the add-tail operation simulates the process of operating on data without changing the content of data product
