Abstract :
The present paper deals with three alternative methods behind the line-switching tests on the synchronous generator. The analysis is based on a hybrid state-space model of the synchronous machine developed in terms of equivalent circuit parameters. Exact analytical formulations of terminal voltages and the field current following the generator line-switching test are also derived in terms of physical machine parameters. The line- switching tests of purely inductive and capacitive load are performed and comparisons are made between simulation results and actual data obtained from 4-pole 1.5-kVA, 208-V, and 60-Hz laboratory machine.
