Abstract
In this paper, an experiment that is oriented to discriminate between different oil slicks using polarimetric SAR image was introduced. Dark patches which often appear in SAR images such as biogenic slicks, atmospheric front, and crude oil with different chemical composition were identified according to the result of Eigenvector-Eigenvalue based Incoherent Target Decomposition. The experiment demonstrated that polarimetric SAR can be of great help in classifying of oil spills.
