Abstract :
A new multilevel cellular automata networks model is developed to simulate the urban traffic spatiotemporal evolvement by means of computerized morphology analytical method. In the spatial structure of this model, the intersections does not take the faulty hypothesis that vehicles fly over them freely. The lanes are described by one dimensional cellular automata. The intersections are described by two dimensional cellular automata, But a m-legged intersection is decomposed into Cm2 of logical independent cells chains which are modeled by the multilevel Cellular Automata networks overlapped in vertical. At the micro networks dynamics, the basic state equations of Cellular Automata for traffic system are developed, and the complex networks dynamics equations are also developed in this research. The urban traffic behavior is simulated by iterations based on the updating procedure of system involvement for continuous ticks of the clock. Then a example is applied to illustrate the practical use of the multilevel cellular automata networks model. the simulation results shows the simulation is consisted on the theoretical. Despite the simplicity in the construction of the model, it produces rather complex behavior of urban traffic systems. The future applications of the model is expected.
