Abstract
Nowadays, stream media technology is widely used in embedded systems. The embedded equipments have limited hardware resources. When receiving and dealing with stream media files, blocks caused by congestions or interruptions of network often lead to paralysis of the entire systems. This kind of blocks should be effectively detected and solved. This paper discusses the common methods of detecting and solving this kind of blocks, and makes an analysis and comparison of the advantages and disadvantages of these methods, then brings forward a method based on log analysis and its algorithms. This method is successfully applied to VOD (video on demand) player of IPTV (network television) set-top box to detect and resolve block problems caused by interruptions of network, which proves that this method can effectively enhance the stability of IPTV set-top box. The method based on log analysis provides a generic way to detect and resolve block problems for streaming media applications in embedded equipments
