Abstract
Studies the problem of efficiently multiplexing virtual circuits over multiple channels between switches in high-speed networks. Since cells in parallel channels can bypass each other, reordering is required. The authors study the performance improvement yielded by different multiplexing strategies relative to the case when no multiplexing is performed. In addition they examine the delay and loss behavior for both, bursty and constant bit-rate, traffic. They show that significant performance improvements are obtained by multiplexing
