Abstract :
An Opto-VLSI system implementation for 4G Mobile Communication Service (MCS): Image Processor with Optical Space Switch that is capable of switching a large number of input and output fibers in real time is presented. A reconfigurable network may offer bandwidth on demand by configuring itself to optimize for the traffic bottlenecks. The image processor performs 30 frames/s of QCIF at maximum clock rate of 27 MHz for 384 kbps, which meets the requirements for MPEG-4 SP@L2 for video conferencing, surveillance, news, or entertainment and optical switch realizes fast real time multimedia mobile services at high bandwidth up to 60 GHz.
