Abstract
A region-wise fuzzy sliding mode controller is proposed. In the process of designing the proposed controller, we firstly employ the sliding mode control techniques to design the fuzzy control rules, and to obtain the fuzzy sliding mode controller. Secondly, we adopt the concepts of a region-wise linear fuzzy controller to design the fuzzy sliding mode controller, namely the region-wise fuzzy sliding mode controller. Then based on the state values of the controlled plant, a fuzzy tuner is used to tune the scaling factor for the output of the region-wise fuzzy sliding mode controller. Finally, a genetic algorithm is applied to search the optimal parameters of the region-wise fuzzy sliding mode controller and the fuzzy tuner. The simulation results show that the proposed region-wise fuzzy sliding mode controller exhibits better performance than that of fuzzy sliding mode controller.
