Abstract :
Using material with unique ways may tremendously improve the behaviors of a building. Aiming at the weakness of the existent residential building systems with steel structure, such as weaker structural stiffness, obstructing the indoor space being used, affecting the appearance of interior facade, a new conception of a congregated residential building system with special-shape section steel structural column has been brought up in this paper. The conception bases on the theory of spatial structure and the features of the steel material and the space of residential building. The spirit of the conception is discussed from the following aspects: (1) the outline shape of the structural column´s cross-section could match with the layouts of enclosure walls in a residential building. (2) The webs of a special section column are made by corrugated plate. (3) The joint which connects beams and a special section column should be in special way. (4) The matching technologies, and the feasibility of industrialization of the congregated residential building system with special cross-section steel structural column, should be investigated and developed specially.
