  • Abstract
    The imaging characteristics of infrared and visible light images are different, so the research on fusions of them in the Intelligent Transportation System (ITS) is significant. In this paper the fusions of visual and infrared images on feature level and decision level were discussed. On the feature level, the feature fusion was realized by Wavelet transform, on the decision level, the fusion method based on Dempster-Shafer evidence theory was proposed. The experimental results show that this image fusion algorithm can preserve the details of original images and improve the correct recognition rate compared with single type image. Then, the quality of service in ITS will be greatly improved by the practical application of algorithm.
