Abstract :
Summary form only given. This paper aims at clarifying the mechanism of R&D processes in organizations. It analyses the organizational processes for developing liquid crystal displays (LCDs) at fourteen organizations in the United States, Europe, Korea and Japan by using patent data, and compares them. It utilizes the methodology of representing the dynamics of R&D organizations on the basis of intellectual products such as patents, which the authors have developed. The R&D organizational processes are shown on charts through structuring co-inventor relations reconstructed from their interrelations between their co-invention teams on the basis of their names searched for in databases without any arbitrary judgments by analysts after fixing a data set
