Abstract
This paper investigates the crowbar protection system used in DFIG wind turbine under the action of electrostatic discharge (ESD). The most used ESD model that allows simulation a discharge from the human operator is Human Body Model. This model is a RLC circuit that simulates the discharge current involved in an ESD. Measurements evaluate the discharge current at the input and the output of the tested circuit in order to estimate the reliability of a type of crowbar under the stress of ESD.
