Abstract :
We are developing a range of custom CMOS camera chips that allow configurable and adaptive imaging. The background to this work will be discussed, along with examples of its potential for functional imaging. Here we will describe a chip design for multiscale processing of spatial and temporal information. We further elaborate on the idea of the configurable chip by describing a chip we have designed, fabricated and tested which capable of performing the role of a two wave mixing photorefractive interferometer. This is an adaptive knife edge detector. The single chip allows dynamic displacements to be measured on rough surfaces without recourse to non-linear optics.
