Abstract :
The authors detail modifications made in the control scheme for two separate tin lines which increased yield by improving quality for a relatively small investment. They deal with control modifications made to the helper sections (drives for turning, deflector rolls, conductor rolls, sink rolls, etc.) to reduce scratches and increase prime tin plate yield while keeping cost to a minimum. In general, these drives are used to help overcome the friction losses of the particular rolls they drive. The electrical configuration of the helper sections in each of these two tin lines, did not permit proper operation of the helper rolls. The new configurations are described.<>
