Abstract
This paper briefly describes why and how the US Army National Automotive Center, as a strategic technology and innovation management initiative, has endorsed the use of a high-end computer-based simulation and visualization technology-the CAVE Automatic Virtual Environment (CAVE). The main reason for this adoption is the hope that its use will significantly improve team-based activities and decrease the overall cost and development schedule for future vehicle system design and development. In addition, it is planned that the CAVE system can be used to implement a recently mandated concept of “simulation-based acquisition”
