Abstract
The spatial distribution of repolarization time in canine right atria was estimated from monophasic action potentials (MAPs) and characterized statistically. MAP waveforms were collected from 76 sites within the right atrium of 11 dogs under control conditions and with perfusion of 0.5 and 1.0 μM acetylcholine (ACH) solutions. The 90% action potential duration (APD90) was estimated automatically from MAP waveforms. Spatial resolution was investigated in two preparations by comparing APD90 fields generated using 76 data points to APD90 fields generated using 250 data points. The spatial mean of APD90, spatial standard deviation of APD90, mean gradient, and standard deviation of gradient were all found to be significantly different between the control and ACH preparations. ACH did not appear to increase the spatial randomness of APD90, as measured by estimates of correlation length and the effective wavelength of the APD90 field
