Abstract :
In this paper we present the research results obtained in the implementation of a radiations monitoring system based on miniature radiometers with semiconductor detectors. The domain of applications for the presented system is wide, from nuclear safety to active personal dosimetry. The basic structure of this radiation monitoring system comprises many portable dosimeter stations and a mobile dosimetry computerized central console. The data stored and processed on the central console can be sent to the other computerized centers situated in different geographical location. The readout electronics of the system use PIN diode radiations detector, having 5 mm thickness. The novelty of the presented system consists in the improved design and fabrication of the detector´s electronics in order to be capable to accomplish the needs of gamma radiations dosimetry and hybrids PIN diode array for charged particle detectors. In the paper are presented the results obtained during testing and characterizing the new devices in gamma fields, operating at room temperature. The radiations monitoring system use an improved design based on telepositional GPS satellite methods and GSM terrestrial civil radiotransmision networks. This implementation solution overcomes the limitations of fixed and portable dosimeters, providing wireless real time radiations data and geospatial information.
