Abstract :
This paper presents a novel method of tracking the fundamental power frequency which has the performance necessary to cope with the requirements of future protection and control equipment but is robust enough to cope with the more demanding nature of modern power system conditions. The method is more sensitive to changes in frequency than Fourier transform methods. Using the simulated data, the performance in tracking rapid changes in frequency is found to be competitive with other methods described in the literature
