Abstract
Fixed mobile convergence (FMC) means the convergence of the existing wired network and wireless network. Therefore a mobile device needs the function of connection method on the FMC infrastructure. An application controlled handover algorithm is developed in this paper, which can keep channel continuity in the wired wireless synergy network environment that consists of UMTS, WLAN and MB OFDM-UWB using radio over fibre (RoF) technique to establish a IP backbone connection. In this paper, application controlled handover algorithm exchanging data by using particular air interface access based on required data rate. The application controlled handover reduces packet loss up to 70% during a heavy data transmission, and 100% enhancement in server´s application response time compared to the network without application controlled handover technique.
