  • Abstract
The relationship between the control strategy of automatic mechanical transmission (AMT) for hybrid electric vehicle (HEV) on the condition of start-up and the fuel consumption is researched. In this paper, an approach on how to calculate the fuel consumption is proposed. During the start-up, the control logic is designed for Vela HEV, and a PID control method for auto-shift is used to control the process of clutch. The different fuel consumption of European Urban Driving Cycle (EUDC) on the condition of manual-shift Start-up and auto-shift Start-up are measured and recorded. By analyzing the data curves, it shows that the fuel consumption of auto- shift Start-up on PID control strategy is less than that of manual-shift Start-up, so this method can reduce the fuel consumption effectively.
