Abstract :
This study analyzes surge waves, occurring on hotline cutting conductors which are charged with nominal voltage but with no load. Surge waves on energized side conductors have abnormal transient phenomena. Peak values of these on energized side conductors are higher than the values on DC-energized side and nominal voltage. It reveals that the values are very important variables, but conductor size and length aren´t important variable on hotline cutting. The results can be used for hotline safety guides of overhead distribution lines
