Abstract :
Genetic algorithms (GA) are applied to recently developed weighted vector directional filter (WVDF) optimization with subject to color image filtering and enhancement. After the GA optimization, the proposed WVDF filters are capable of removing noise in color images, while preserving image details, structural contents and color information. Due to excellent color/structural preserving characteristics, the proposed filters produce high-quality outputs when applying the real color image problem such as television image enhancement and virtual restoration of artworks.
