Abstract
This paper is devoted to the investigation of turbulent noises in the plasma of a pulsed power plasma opening switch (POS). A diagnostic system based on a schlieren-image scheme was developed and applied at the 140 kA "Taina" facility. Using a YAG:Nd laser allows to detect plasma noises by laser beam scattering effect. Preliminary data analysis gives range of scattering angles 10/sup -3//spl divide/10/sup -2/. Scattering on nonequilibrium oscillations seems to be most probable mechanism. Estimations of the level of turbulence as well as magnetic and electric fields strength required for scattering effect are presented. The role of different oscillations (particular electrostatic and helicons) is discussed.
