Abstract
The electromagnetic valve actuator (EMVA) is one of the promising solutions to the challenge of reduction in fuel consumption and vehicle emissions. Conventional EMVA uses double solenoids to drive the valves independently. It has been proved that these designs suffer the inherent problem of fixed valve lift and complex control method. In this paper, a moving coil electromagnetic valve actuator is presented. The advantage over double solenoid actuator was analyzed. A coupled system model of the moving coil EMVA was developed and the simulation was done. To verify the simulation, the static and transient experiments were carried out. Both the simulation and the experiment results are presented. The results demonstrate the excellent behavior of the system.
