Abstract :
Comb distribution was a basic style of traditional villages layout in Pearl River Delta, this kind of distribution style was not only accord with China traditional moral codes of rating but took great advantage of the local climate to make village have good ventilation. Two kinds of ventilation were in the villages, one was to use the dominant season wind and another was to use the local climate and the temperature difference of various underlaying surfaces to ventilate villages. Line by line houses of columns made season wind and air from water flowed smoothly to villages and the temperature difference of water in front of villages, trees, sunshining Heping and sunshade laneways formed the constant air flow to cool villages. All kinds of wind interacted to cool villages temperature and enhance thermal comfort.
