Abstract
We have shown that the latest generation of commercial surface penetrating impulse radar can be used to detect plastic mines in various soil materials, including what in the past was considered as a difficult type, i.e. the unmade road material. Impulse radar could be developed along two lines; as a hand held detector or as a robot mounted detector. The probability of detection would be considerably improved by adopting the radar as part of a multi-sensor detection system
