Abstract :
Based on the introduction of configuration and mechanism of the superconducting magnetic energy storage (SMES) fed by a voltage source converter (VSMES), a time- domain simulation model is established by using the software PSCAD/EMTDC. The operational characteristics of VSMES are studied in details. The simulation results are valuable for the design, operation and parameters selection of the VSMES.
